Classification / Types
• Direct Fire
• Direct fire munitions, sometimes referred to
as target specific, are intended to be fired
directly at a person.
• These munitions are either, non-stabilized
and accurate over short distances, or they are
spin stabilized and accurate of greater
distance (up to as much as 40 yards).
Classification / Types
• Indirect Fire Munitions
– Indirect fire munitions are NOT intended to be
directly fired at a person or person’s.
• Skip Firing - the projectiles should be launched so
that they skip 6 - 7 feet in front of the intended
target.
• Low Angle Launch - arching the projectiles into
crowds a greater distance (30 - 100 yards)
• High Angle Launch - “extreme elevation” to bring
the projectiles on top of a crowd that is close to the
field force formation.
