When to use SIMS’s
• Correlating SIMs to the Force Continuum
• The location of the Specialty Impact Munitions
on the force continuum is dependent on a wide
variety of qualifying factors.
• Generally, they would closely correlate to a
force equivalent to hard intermediate weapons
(Baton).
• The use of SIMs may rise above or fall below
this level.

• This should not be such a difficult concept to
understand, since we are used to a similar set of
circumstances being applied to the use of a
baton.
• The correlation of SIMs to a force continuum
will more likely be predicated on how you use
the force, rather than when.
