• Extreme caution should be used by a

tactical teams who confront suicidal
suspects armed with a firearm, should

• Always afford ample ballistic protection such
as ballistic vest, helmets, and shields.

• Lethal force, as a back-up, should always be in
place prior to deployment of SIM’s.
• The team should recognize the possibility that

the deployment of SIM could cause the subject
to inadvertently discharge their weapon.
