• What are your environmental concerns, location,
and people in the area?
• What is the subject’s age, and health factor?

• Physical Response

• DO I de-escalate?
• DO I engage with empty hand or do I utilize other
tools?
• DO I give a code word to the other officers in the
area prior to using SIM’s?
• Did I ask the subject to comply and repeat the
commands to comply?
• Did I exhaust all other options and now I am
physically acting?
